Uroš Tirnanić won the literary competition „A book a day sends summer worries away” second time in the row

Uroš Tirnanić, a Savremena Gimnazija Year 3 student, has proved his writing talent one more time by winning the literary competition A book a day sends summer worries away, with the theme Online or offline, a book means a world to me. Uroš won in the category of secondary school students, while the competition is organised at the level of both primary and secondary schools.

You can read Uroš’s victorious work here.

Reading – the ticket to the world of imagination where everything is possible

The competition A book a day sends summer worries away was initiated by the decision of the Administrative Board of the Society of school libraries of Serbia to celebrate 24 May, the Day of Slavic literacy and culture, with anticipation of summer holidays. The competition was directed at the students of primary and secondary schools, and the evaluation of works was entrusted to our well-known writer Srđan Tešin.

The Society of school libraries of Serbia congratulated the awarded students and thanked all the participants for being committed to reading, pointing out that the gift of reading represents the ticket to the world of imagination that has no boundaries and where everything is possible.

The certificates will be sent by mail to the award recipients at their respective school addresses, and should the award ceremony be organised, the recipients, mentors and librarians will be duly informed regarding the venue and the time of the ceremony.

Uroš does not cease to surprise us

We would like to remind you of the fact that Uroš Tirnanić ranked as first last year as well, at the competition with the same title having responded to the theme I change the ending of my favourite book – just reading a book magically turns me into a fantastic writer, but that time it was the decision of another well-known writer, a poet Violeta Jović. This is a true confirmation that Uroš’s manner and style of writing are recognisable and original.

This November Uroš won another literary competition award – he ranked third at the Festival of children’s creativity An artist in a school classroom.

Savremena Gimnazija commends Uroš’s love of the Serbian language and literature and looks forward to his new success, which we are sure is bound to happen and be remarkable. We are confident that Uroš will continue to develop and improve his talent for creative writing and we wish him all the best!

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
